HousePlants Now is simply a blog for people who enjoy growing house plants and recognize their therapeutic and decorative presence in our homes. I’m creating a space where indoor gardeners can learn more about exotic and unusual indoor plants, share growing tips, and have more fun with house plants. No longer is a houseplant simply a pothos vine stuck in a wicker basket in a dark corner. Loft spaces, patios, and miniature indoor greenhouses are expanding the range of what we can grow as house plants, and how we display them! I’ll also share any deals, sales, or places to buy plants that I come across!
I’ve been fascinated by plants since I first germinated beans in glass jars at school. Growing up in the tropics allowed me to explore my hobby in diverse environments where many of our indoor tropical plants come from! My main interest is orchids (you can visit my websites on growing orchids and phalaenopsis orchid care for more detailed ‘how-to-grow’ information). I’ve also created a website on an indoor house plant favorite–amaryllis bulbs.
But, this blog is not about being an expert, but about having a dialogue with other house plant growers and to capture the day-to-day pleasures (and frustrations) of growing indoor plants. It’s also a chance to discuss other plants I enjoy growing, besides orchids.
This site does ask for an email to leave a comment. I feel, like many bloggers, that it’s essentially a signature, and indicates your willingness to stand behind your remarks. You can use any email you want–I don’t collect them and I won’t send you spam, though I might respond directly to your comment or question!
A few rules. Profanity, rudeness and other juvenile behavior is not tolerated. Neither is excessive promotion of your own or other websites–anything that adds to the discussion is fine.
